If you use the Claude desktop app, Affiant can work inside it. Point Claude at a folder of discovery and it will tell you what is in each file before you spend anything: how many pages, whether those pages carry real text or are flattened scans, and how much of it this computer has already read.
Then you say which ones to run. Claude runs them through Affiant and puts the workbook where you asked for it.
Look before you pay
Checking a folder costs nothing and makes no API calls. A thousand page scan and a forty page statement are very different jobs, and you find out which one you are holding before you commit to it.
Ask in plain words
Nothing to learn. “What is in this folder” works, and so does “run the two Wells Fargo statements into a workbook on my desktop.” Plain sentences, the way you would ask a person.
You approve every step
Claude asks before it uses Affiant, every time, so nothing happens that you did not agree to. You can switch it off again in one click.
Setting it up is one button in Settings and about a minute. It is optional. Affiant works exactly as it always has without it.

Affiant Statements is a program you install, not a website you upload to. Your statements and the workbooks it produces stay on your computer and on whatever backup you already use.
We never receive your files, we do not store them, and there is no account holding your documents.

The reading is done by Anthropic’s Claude, and you supply your own API key. Pages go from your computer to Anthropic and the results come straight back. Nothing routes through us.
That key is also what makes the cost honest: you pay Anthropic for the pages you actually read, at their price, with no margin added.

Before you subscribe
Do I need the Claude desktop app to use Affiant?
No. Affiant is a program you install and run on its own, and it reaches Anthropic directly with your own API key. Separately, if you happen to use the Claude desktop app, there is an optional setup that lets Claude look through a folder of statements and run the ones you pick. Everything works the same either way.
What is an Anthropic API key, and why do I need my own?
It is an account with Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude models doing the reading. You create one at console.anthropic.com, add a payment method, and paste the key into the app once.
The alternative would be for us to buy that capacity and resell it to you with a markup, and to route your clients’ statements through our servers to do it. Your own key is cheaper and keeps your documents out of our hands entirely.
How much does the Anthropic side actually cost?
It depends on page count and whether the statements were downloaded or scanned. Downloaded PDFs are cheaper to read than photographs of paper.
Start with about ten pages on your first run. It tells you in a couple of minutes what a full case will cost before you commit to one.
Will it handle my client’s bank?
It is not built from a list of banks, so there is no format it has been taught and others it has not. It reads the page the way a person would.
If a statement does come back wrong, send it over. Documents that trip it up are how it gets better.
Can I put it on my laptop and my desktop?
One computer at a time. Moving it takes about five seconds: open Settings on the old machine, choose Release this computer, then activate on the new one. There is no limit on how often you move it.
Do I have to check its work?
Yes, and the app is built on that assumption. Every row keeps a reference back to the statement and page it came from, and the categories it assigns are a first pass meant to be corrected, not a finding.
It is a tool for producing evidence. The judgment about what the numbers mean stays yours.
What happens if I cancel?
The subscription stops at the end of the period you have paid for and the key stops activating after that. Every workbook you have already produced is a file on your computer and stays yours.
